Here is an example of small business consulting using an internet store as an example:
Sean: Now you’ve probably studied it some and you probably have seen other retailers that use Yahoo stores. What’s a reasonable income for somebody who runs a nice profitable Yahoo store, say on a monthly basis?
Rhonda: Probably around $50,000.
Sean: So $50,000 a month. Obviously there’s people who have Yahoo stores who make $1 a month because they don’t know what they’re doing, and then there’s other people who make $1 million a month…
Rhonda: What I was going to say is once you go past a certain amount, it’s better to have your own platform.
Sean: That makes a lot of sense. Let’s say a nice potential for somebody is $50,000 on a Yahoo store.
Now if you were able to bring together the experts, and really the very best experts in the world, Rhonda, would be other people who run Yahoo stores. Just literally find other people who run Yahoo stores who make at least $50,000 a month and go to them and talk about doing this. I would say that that’s a better person for people in your class to learn from than somebody who’s a self-proclaimed expert in running a Yahoo store.
Does that make sense?
Rhonda: Yes, it does.
Sean: So you bring this group of 8 people together, and I’m not going to go through all the details because we just did for Will’s business – it’s the same exact model – but let’s go through the selling process.
If you’re able through your class to teach other people how to build a Yahoo store that generates $50,000 a month in income over time – obviously they’re not going to do that the first month, but over time they’re going to get to $50,000 a month, how much is a class like that worth if it really does everything you say it does?
Rhonda: I don’t know, but it’s worth a lot. If you charge $50,000, it’s the amount they would make in one month.
Sean: Absolutely, so now we’re talking about a $50,000 course. Like I said, I personally know people who are doing between $65,000 and $100,000 courses, and that’s not even looking at corporate training. Companies will pay $1 million for a training program that trains all their salespeople.
So if you take a program like this, and if it’s worth $50,000 to somebody, then you’ve got a couple different options.
