Yes, it’s true that some people claiming to be internet marketing consultants have no more expertise than reading a book on the subject. Their interest is not in helping your business, it’s in helping themselves to your money. If you were to actually ask them a question, in other words consult with the consultant, you’d struggle to get a coherent response, and certainly not one that helps you. Of course no all are like that, and there are ways to spot the real experts from the money grabbers.

A proper expert will know about the basics of the sales model, from market selection to product selection, to offer preparation to traffic generation, and in that order too. A proper expert will be able to look at your efforts, and spot what you have done correctly and what you have done incorrectly. They’ll be able to explain your mistakes, and not only tell you how to fix them, but will show you. Someone who is rehashing other people’s material will not be able to tap such a range of knowledge.

Also, before you consider a consultant, make sure you are committed to the process, that you will take on board what they say, otherwise there is little point in the exercise. If you think that you know best, then save your money and your time, because a consultant will only be able to help those willing to adapt.

So to sum up, while there are indeed some scammers out there, if you commit to the process, and do your research, you can benefit from internet marketing consulting.
